The Lady Bulldogs began their AAC tournament play this morning against St. Andrew's University. Fifth-seeded Tennessee Wesleyan University started slowly but turned things around in racing to the 75-58 win over No. 12 seed St. Andrews University.
With the win, the Lady Bulldogs advance to face No. 4 seed Bluefield College on Thursday at 10:15 a.m.
St. Andrews came out to take a 17-12 lead after the opening quarter of play. In the second quarter, Tennessee Wesleyan cranked up its offense and went on a 12-2 run to take a 31-25 lead. The Lady Bulldogs outscored St. Andrews 28-12 in the quarter to take a 40-29 lead at halftime.
The Knights cut the margin in the 3rd to 50-46. Tennessee Wesleyan used an 8-0 run to build a 12-point lead and took a 58-50 lead to go into the fourth. The Lady Bulldogs' lead in the fourth never got lower than nine and rose as high as 19 en route to the 75-58 win.
