Ian Harris has been hired as recruiting coordinator and assistant coach for the volleyball program at Tennessee Wesleyan University. Harris was formally the recruiting coordinator and defensive line coach for the Maryville College football program since 2012. During his time as recruiting coordinator at Maryville College, the team won three USA South championships and was the winningest college football program in the state of Tennessee. Harris coached 13 all conference players during his five seasons, and spearheaded a fundraiser to help out with Hurricane Harvey relief in Houston that raised nearly $5,000 in just a weeks' time. Prior to Maryville College, he worked as the director of player personnel for arena football teams, the Green Bay Blizzard, Columbus Lions, and Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz. Harris was the assistant to the recruiting coordinator for the football team at Marshall University during his undergraduate time from 2003-06.
On joining the volleyball program, Harris said, "I am very excited and honored to be a part of the Tennessee Wesleyan University family. The biggest thing that I have seen here is that people really support each other, and work with each other to help accomplish goals. I have never been in an environment that is so warm and welcoming. I look forward to working with a great group of people here at TWU, and a really fun group of girls on this team that have welcomed me with open arms."
Head coach Ashley Harris on her new assistant, "Ian brings years of recruiting experience which is very helpful and has numerous connections across the country. His passion for leading and teaching young athletes is fun to watch, and the results that he has had in building and coaching winning teams speaks for itself. He is a very welcomed addition here at TWU, and my girls were very excited when they heard the news that he was coming on board."
