BARBOURVILLE, KY-After defeating Reinhardt in the opening round of the AAC tournament No. 4 seed Tennessee Wesleyan traveled to Barbourville to take on top-seeded Union College in the semi-finals. Union won the contest 3-1.
In what was a much tighter game than the final tally might indicate, Union netted a pair of goals in the final 16 minutes of play for the two-goal victory.
After a lot of tight, back-and-forth play for much of the first half, Union scored first in the 38th minute as Union took a 1-0 lead into the half.
Tennessee Wesleyan wasted little time in trying to even the score as Britten Fandrich scored with assistance from Courtney Strickland just five minutes after the break, making it 1-1.
Union had several scoring chances, but Tiffani Martin played tough at goal. In the 74th minute TWC fouled outside the 18-yard box on the left side allowing Union the free kick and go up 2-1.
In the 79th minute, Fandrich picked up her second yellow card, resulting in a red card and ejection from the game. TWC playing a player down, struggled on the offensive attack. Union scored their final goal in the 3-1 win in the 88th minute.
The Lady Bulldogs season ended with a 5-12-2 overall and 3-4 in conference play(finishing fifth).
