Athens, TN-The Tigers of Brenau University (3-1) grabbed an offensive rebound and banked it in at the buzzer to give Brenau the win 70-69 over the Lady Bulldogs (5-3). The basket by Brenau represented the only time the Tigers led in the second half and gave them their first win at TWC in four tries.
The Lady Bulldogs opened up a 26-10 advantage early in the game but the Tigers fought back to trail 33-30 at the half. Brenau forced the Lady Bulldogs to make 20 turnovers with pressure defense. Although the Lady Bulldogs out-rebounded the Tigers on defense 29-25 the big difference was on the offensive boards, as the Tigers pulled down 15 and TWC had 4.
Heather Gibson led all TWC scorers with 17, followed by Katie Blevins with a career high15 and Amy Jo Castor pumped in 10. Lindsey Jackson led the defensive rebounding attack with 8 boards.
The Lady Bulldogs have two conference matchups this week. as they travel to Montreat on December 2 and to Bryan on December 5 before taking a break for finals. They will resume play on December 12 at Emmanuel College and will round out the month of December in the Cumberland University Tournament.
