Jesse Booher tallied 19 points, hitting five of eight 3-point attempts, and Justin Hicks had a career-high 16 points, including 6-of-6 from the free throw line, as the Bulldogs evened their season record at 3-3 and improved to 2-0 in the AAC standings with an 81-76 victory.
"We played pretty well - too many turnovers (23) - but you're going to make a few more mistakes when you push the pace the way we do," said Wesleyan men's Coach Mike Poe. "We boarded (rebounded) well, hit the open shots and converted at the free throw line.
That's always a good formula for success, especially on the road."
TWC led 35-34 at the half and hit 16 of 18 free throws in the second half to hold off the Cavaliers. In addition to Booher and Hicks, E'Jay Ward had 11 points, also 6-of-6 on free throws. Matt Harper added eight points and a team-high nine rebounds as TWC out-boarded Montreat, 36-28.
The Bulldogs converted 19 of 23 free throws and were 8 of 13 as a team on 3-point attempts.
Montreat (2-8, 1-2) had four players in double digits.
