Draughn High School, North Carolina soccer player, Ansel Clayton, has signed scholarship papers to play soccer for Tennessee Wesleyan College next year.  Clayton becomes the second player in as many years to sign a letter of intent with the Bulldogs following Justin Walker.  Clayton, who received All-Conference and All-Region recognition, helped lead Draughn to their first conference title this past season.

Ansel, a defender, scored 5 goals last year, none were more important than the 20 yard strike in the dying moments of the deciding Conference game which secured the title for Draughn.

Draughn High School Coach and TWC Alumni Josh Martin said of Ansel "he is a great defender and I just let him use his own judgment about when to get forward.  I was fortunate to be able to coach a player who could make those important decisions." Martin, a former player and coach at TWC credits hard work and commitment as keys to Ansel's success.  "Ansel made himself into an elite athlete and great soccer player". "He decided his freshman year that he wanted to play at the next level and hours in the weight room and on the soccer field have made it possible.  I am extremely proud of Ansel and know he will represent our program well."

Ansel is looking forward to training hard over the spring and summer and hopes to contribute to the team any way he can.

TWC head men's soccer coach Stephen Lyons is very pleased that another player from Draughn has decided to come to TWC "Ansel is the second player in two years that Coach Martin has sent to TWC. He is a good defender, he is well coached and great in the classroom. Ansel had a solid tryout and I trust the excellent things Coach Martin has to say about him, we look forward to Ansel coming in August and contributing positively to the TWC soccer program"
