Tennessee Wesleyan raced out an 8-2 lead to open the game, but Union rebounded with an 18-5 rally to claim a 20-13 advantage with 7:48 to go. Not willing to bow out, Tennessee Wesleyan scrapped back and evened the score at 22-22 following a Jessica Sweat layup with 5:26 remaining. However, Union closed out the period on a 16-4 surge.
Union opened up a 17-point lead following a 3-pointer by Kara Pile with 14:42 to go. However, Tennessee Wesleyan picked up a lot of ground behind the 3-point shooting of Lindsey Jackson, who buried three during a 31-18 stretch to cut the margin to 70-66 with 1:53 left. Union sealed the win by hitting seven free throws down the stretch in making the final 77-70.
Both teams showed why they are two of the NAIA Division II's top 3-point shooting squads with both making 12. Lindsey Jackson led the way with 24 points on 6-for-11 shooting from 3-point land. Katie Blevins knocked in 13 points with Amy Jo Castor adding 10.
