Shorter College and Tennessee Wesleyan College met at the courts for non-conference tennis action on Wednesday afternoon in Athens. Shorter's 18th-ranked Lady Hawks cruised to an 8-1 triumph over the Lady Bulldogs.

In women's competition, Shorter breezed to a trio of singles victories at love and was hardly challenged in doubles play. The Lady Bulldogs only win was by Karolina Pierko, number one, over Shorter's Michaela Tingets, 6-4, 6-2. Shorter's Coralie Fayard, Nienke van Staverenand Danielle Monteithclaimed 6-0, 6-0 victories over Kayla Foster at number 2, Marissa Morris at number 4 and Allie Smith at number 5.  Carolina Brignetiof Shorter scored a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles over Tennessee Wesleyan's Spencer Creekmore.

Emmanuelle Beaucoudreywon 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles over the Lady Bulldogs' Meghan Whaley and teamed up with Fayard to blank Allie Smith and Whaley, 8-0, in No. 2 doubles.

Shorter (3-1) had to work for its win at No. 1 doubles, as Monteith and Tingets escaped with an 8-6 triumph over Kayla Foster and Karolina Pierko.
