Wesleyan, ranked 11th nationally in the NAIA preseason poll, improved to 12-3 on the season with a win over Tennessee Temple on Thursday. Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead in the third when Kurtis Bramlett singled and scored on Max Loveland's double. A leadaoff single by Ryan Santos led to a second run in the fourth. Wesleyan stretched the lead to 5-0 in the fifth on singles from David Lindsay, Max Loveland and Santos, along with Johnny Smith's double. A single by Johnny Smith, a walk and two-out error made it 7-0 in the seventh. The Bulldogs' final two runs came in the eighth on singles from Tanner Quirk, Andy Duncan, Johnny Smith and a sacrifice fly from Loveland.
Tennessee Wesleyan had a total of 13 hits. Johnny Smith led the Bulldogs with four hits, two RBIs, and 2 runs. Max Loveland had 2 hits with both being doubles and 3 RBIs. Ryan Santos also had 2 hits and 1 RBI.
The win went to Freddy Lewis, who pitched 5 innings with 9 strikeouts and only giving up one hit. Matt McCracken pitched two innings with 3 strikouts and no hits. Max Loveland came in for one inning of relief only giving up one hit. Daniel Wood finished up the game with one strikeout and one walk.
Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs will begin AAC action this weekend hosting Virginia Intermont for a double header on Saturday starting at 12:00 pm and then a single game on Sunday at 2:00 pm.
