The Bulldogs traveled to Georgetown College to play a doubleheader. The Bulldogs were successful in winning both games. The first game ended in 6 innings with a score of 12-2 while the second ended with a score of 8-5.
The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead in the top half of the third, but the Tigers used two throwing errors in the bottom of the inning to tie the score. Wesleyan broke the game open with a five-run fifth and closed the game out with a five-run sixth. Hamilton Bennett picked up the win, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits while striking out six and walking one. Ronnie Phelps pitched the sixth, giving up two hits. Ryan Santos led the Bulldogs' 10-hit attack, going 3-for-4 with a double and home run to drive in five runs and scored twice. Rafael Carlot had a double, RBI and run scored. Both teams committed three errors.
In the second game, Wesleyan trailed 3-2 before putting up three runs in the fourth, but the Tigers plated single runs in the fourth and fifth to even the score at five. The Bulldogs pushed across three runs in the eighth and Max Loveland, the sixth Wesleyan pitcher of the game, retired the Tigers in order to earn the save. Daniel Wood started for Bulldogs, surrendering four runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and one walk over 3 1/3 innings. Freddy Lewis went 1 2/3 innings, allowing one run on three hits with two strikeouts and one walk. In scoreless relief, Jason Ferguson went 2/3 of an inning (two hits, one walk); Drew Housewright 1/3 inning and Phelps one inning (one hit, one walk) to earn the win. Johnny Smith went 4-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Cody Gaskill was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI; Loveland a double, two runs scored and an RBI; Santos a double with two RBIs and Lewis 1-for-1 with a run scored and RBI. Wesleyan had 11 hits and did not commit an error. Georgetown had 14 hits and four errors.
The Bulldogs travel to Reinhardt to play a single game on Friday, April 9th at 6:00 and then a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 2:00 pm.
