
Game one was a pitchers duel, neither pitcher gave up a run until extra innings. Milligans Sydney Burns got the win only allowing 2 hits in 8 innings and striking out 7. TWC's Brittany Fox was the tough luck loser scattering only 6 singles in 8 innings and striking out 5. When the game went into the 8th inning the international tie breaking rule was in effect. Milligan advances the runner from second to third with a single and scored on a deep fly ball to center, so Milligan was able to score without the benefit of a hit. Leaders for TWC were Ashley Bryson and Megan Arndts each collected a hit a piece.
In game two Milligan jumped out on top in the second inning with 2 runs. TWC answered back with 4 runs in the 3rd with a 3 run double by Brittnie Hester. Wesleyan added an insurance run in the 4th with an RBI double by Ashton Burrell. Kayla Kerns recorded the win in relief, throwing the last five innings allowing only 1 hit and striking out 3. Leaders for TWC were Chealsey Baxter and Ashton Burrell each having a single and a double.
TWC finishes AAC regular season with a 9-7 record. The Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament will start April 27. The Lady Bulldogs next game will be on Thursday, April 15, 2010 @ Trevecca, game time 5pm.
