The first game of the tournament between No. 5 seed Tennessee Wesleyan and No. 4 seed Virginia Intermont encountered a long rain delay, but was completed with the Lady Bulldogs claiming the upset, 2-0, over the Lady Cobras.

Tennessee Wesleyan opened the scoring with an in-the-park home run off the bat of Megan Arndts in the second inning and added to its lead with an RBI triple from Ashley Bryson in the third inning, giving the Lady Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. Brittany Fox made sure the two runs would be all the offense she would need as the senior shut down the Lady Cobra attack to the tune of zero runs on just two hits, while striking out 11 batters en route to the opening round win.

Leaders for TWC Ashely Bryson was 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI.  Megan Arndts was 1 for 3 with an inside the park homerun.  Winning pitcher was Brittany Fox going 7 innings giving up 2 hits, 11 strike out and no walks.

TWC will play top seed Reinhardt College on Wednesday at 5:00 pm
