
The Tennessee Wesleyan College Athletic Banquet was held last night to honor all of the Bulldog athletes. With a great turnout of student athletes, coaches, and community members the evening proved to be an appropriate tribute to the late Floyd "Jack" Bowling. His place was set in memory of him and he was honored throughout the program. The event was started with dinner and a showing of the year of sports in pictures.
It continued with a host of awards beginning with the recognition of post season honors from last spring until this spring. Anyone who has been named to All-Conference teams, All-Academic teams, or any other conference awards were named.
Dr. Willhite continued the program with the presentation of the Academic Achievement Awards. Receiving this honor was for Baseball -Daniel Wood, Men's Basketball- Brad Barham, Women's Basketball- Katie Blevins, Softball- Heather Gibson, Volleyball- Mallory Hayes, Women's Lacrosse- Brittany Rothfolk, Men's Lacrosse-Joel Gossner, Women's Cross Country- Brittany Rothfolk, Women's Golf-Jenna Lewis, Men's Tennis-Giovanni Santos, Women's Tennis- Kayla Foster, Women's Soccer- Laura Swallows, and Men's Soccer- Duane Rikard. The James W. Thompson Academic Achievement Award is given to a male and female senior athlete with the highest GPA. Katie Blevins and Brad Barham were the recipients of this award.
The night continued with the Champions of Characters awards given to a member of each team that exemplifies the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership. Those named were for Baseball- Brian Miracle, Men's Basketball- Brad Barham, Women's Basketball- Mindy Hodge, Softball- Kourtney Burris, Volleyball- Jaclyn Evans, Women's Lacrosse- Emily Clevenger, Men's Lacrosse- Joel Gossner, Women's Cross Country- Allison Mayhew, Men's Cross Country- Thomas Barker, Women's Golf- McKenzie Inman, Men's Golf- Casey Flenniken, Men's Tennis-Giovanni Santos, Women's Tennis- Kayla Foster, Women's Soccer- Katie Smith, Men's Soccer-Duane Rikard, Cheerleading- Aeriel Seaborn, and Dance- Ashley Thompson. The Overall Champions of Character awards were given to Brad Barham and Sarah Creekmore.
The night continued with the presentation of awards to senior male and female athletes. The first award was the Athletic Director's Awards. The recipients were McKenzie Inman and Brad Pippa. The night continued with the Floyd "Jack" Bowling award given to Daniel Wood and Mindy Hodge. M.C. "Tip" Smith award was received by Duane Rikard and Megan Arndts. Cody Gaby and Lindsey Jackson received the Dwain Farmer award.
The final award given was the Jack Prince Award. This award is given to a community member who devotes extra time and service to the Athletic Department. Mike Ingram was recognized as going above and beyond for the Athletic teams and their facilities. National Management Corporation was given an appreciation award for the time and work that they put in for the Athletic Department.
