The Bulldogs played in their second game of the AAC tournament on Monday. The Bulldogs defeated Milligan 9-8. The Bulldogs will continue in the tournament to play the winner of the loser bracket's game between Milligan and Reinhardt, which will be played at 11:00 am Tuesday morning. If the Bulldogs win they will play in the championship game against the Winner of Bracket B.
Wesleyan and Milligan started out the game both scoring one run in the first inning. Milligan came out ahead in the 2nd inning scoring another run and taking the lead. Wesleyan was able to hold Milligan to their 2 runs for the next four innings while they were able to score 3 each in the 4th and 5th inning. With the Bulldogs leading 7-2 going into the 7th inning, Milligan tried for a comeback scoring one in the 7th, 3 in the 8th and 2 in the 9th to take the lead 8-2. The Bulldogs managed to score 2 more in the ninth by two walks, a sacrifice bunt, an intentional walk, hit batter, and sacrifice fly to center.
The Bulldogs scored 9 runs on 7 hits. Ryan Santos led the Bulldogs with 2 hits. Cody Gaskill, Max Loveland, and Andrew Tharp each had a double. C.J. McElroy had a homerun. Bennett pitched 8 innings giving up 6 runs on 10 hits and one walk, while striking out 8. Loveland came in as relief in the last inning and gave up 2 runs on 2 hits along with one walk.
The Bulldogs play at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, May 11th.
