Brad Pippa hits a home run in his final game as a Wesleyan Bulldog

The Bulldogs played in their final game of the season at the Avista-NAIA World Series against California Baptist University. Wesleyan lost their first game to Embry-Riddle and were forced into the loser's bracket to then play number 3 seeded California Baptist.

The Bulldogs started the scoring in the 2nd inning with one run, but California Baptist quickly came back to get in the lead 3-1 after the 3rd and then 7-1 after the 4th. The Bulldogs came back to score when in the bottom of the 5th Brad Pippa hit a homerun. However, California Baptist was not done scoring when they got to more runs in the 6th to make the lead 9-2. The Bulldogs tried to make a comeback but with only scoring one in the bottom of the 8th, they could only get to 3 runs. California Baptist scored one more insurance run in the top of the 9th, to make the final score 10-3.

The Bulldogs had a total of 8 hits with Max Loveland leading the team with 3 hits. Brad Pippa and Ryan Santos each had two hits. Loveland hit a double and Pippa hit a homerun. Freddy Lewis started the game pitching 3 2/3 innings while giving up 5 runs on 3 hits. Daniel Wood came in as relief for 2 1/3 innings, but gave up 4 runs on 4 hits.   Matt McCracken came in for 2 innings and only gave up one hit. Matt Brennan finished the game giving up 2 hits and one run.

With only a total of 7 seniors, 4 pitchers and 3 field players, the Bulldogs should look optimistically on next year's season with hopes of returning to the World Series.
