TWC traveled to Bristol, VA on Saturday to play Virginia Intermont College in a rescheduled game that was postponed earlier in the season because of the weather. It was another Appalachian Athletic Conference game for TWC whose record going into the fixture was 3-0-1.
It was an excellent chance for TWC to register another conference win against a solid team. TWC started the game well creating a number of chances, eventually in the 23rd minute Casey Johnstone picked the ball up on the right wing, took a touch and delivered a fantastic ball low to the front post, Pedro Alba was first to it and he volleyed the ball into the corner of the goal. After the goal TWC had more chances to take the lead, John Carrier and Martyn Freestone had shots just over the bar, but the teams went in at halftime TWC 1 VI 0.
The second half was end to end and TWC had to withstand a lot of pressure, the back four and Josh Leader in the TWC net played very well especially as they had the added difficulty of the sun setting right in their eye line. TWC came out with a 1-0 win and put in a terrific workmanlike performance. The win keeps TWC join top of the conference with two conference game left.
TWC play again on Wednesday at 3pm at home against Union College, the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year.
