The Bulldogs played Tennessee Temple on Tuesday night. Last season the Bulldogs lost both match ups to the Crusaders, so they had something to prove last night. The win didn't come easy for the Bulldogs but in the end it was a win.
The Bulldogs took an early 5-0 lead after winning the jump ball, but the Crusaders quickly came back to tie the game 9-9. The rest of the half was a battle to score with the Bulldogs struggling to get on top. With 17 seconds to go in the half, Jordan Brown from Tennessee Temple sank a three to take a 6 point lead. At the buzzer, Andy Cooper made a 3 and was fouled to make it a 4 point play, but missed the free throw, leaving the Bulldogs down by 3; 28-31.
The second half was much like the first with a back and forth lead by both teams. The Bulldogs pulled out to a seven point lead with 2 minutes left to play, but the Crusaders were not giving up. Tennnessee Temple came back to score two in a row and narrow the lead to 3. Justin Hicks was fouled and put at the free throw line with 22 seconds to go. Hicks made both to increase the lead to five, but Tennessee Temple answered back with a 3. Tennessee Temple chose to foul to try and get the ball back, but Jesse Booher sank both free throws to give the Bulldogs the four point lead they needed. Tennessee Temple came back to score another 2 point goal but there wasn't enought time for them to get the ball back. The final score was Bulldogs 70, Crusaders 68.
Matt Towry once again led the Bulldogs in scoring with 21 points, while pulling down 12 rebounds. Justin Hicks scored 17 points for the Bulldogs and had 5 rebounds.
