E'Jay Ward puts up the game winning shot

The Bulldogs traveled to Asbury University on Saturday.  The Bulldogs previously played the Eagles of Asbury in the opening game of the season defeating them, 94-52. However, the Bulldogs were 0-2 on the road going into the game.

The Bulldogs were down by one at half 36-35 after Asbury overcame an early 14 point deficit. The Bulldogs were down by 10 in the second half and came back to have a 4 point led but Asbury came back to tie it up with just over a minute left in regulation. Neither team could score in the final minute causing the game to go into overtime. 

Tennessee Wesleyan jumped out to a five point lead in overtime 1:37 remaining before the Eagles mounted one final rally with a three and a lay-up to tie the game once again. With four seconds left E'Jay Ward shook a defender and pulled up for a 17 foot jumper to win the game. The Bulldogs defeated Asbury 84-82.

Matt Towry led the Bulldogs with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Also scoring in double digits was Matt Harper with 20 points and Jesse Booher with 16. 

The Bulldogs play in an exhibition game tonight at Samford University at 8:00 pm EST before returning home on Wednesday against Southern Wesleyan at 7:00 pm.   If you would like to follow tonight's game  Click here.
