Bulldogs split over the weekend

The first annual Dwain Farmer Round Ball Classic was held on Friday and Saturday. Bryan College, Southern Virginia University, and Warren-Wilson College all traveled to play. On Friday Bryan College played Southern Virginia while the Bulldogs met up with Warren Wilson. On saturday afternoon the Bulldogs played first against Southern Virginia and then Bryan played Warren Wilson. The Bulldogs split defeating Warren Wilson but losing to Southern Virginia. Bryan won two, while Southern Virginia split, and Warren Wilson lost both games.
In the Bulldogs first game against Warren Wilson, they quickly came out to lead the Owls 46-26 at half. The Bulldogs didn't stop there, with everyone playing they defeated Warren Wilson 102-58. Matt Harper led the Bulldogs with 26 points making 10-12 Field goals, with 4-5 being 3's. Also scoring in double digits is Matt Towry with 18 pts, Zach Sherrill with 16, and Justin Hicks with 15. Matt Towry pulled down 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs while Andy Cooper had 8 rebounds.
In game two against Southern Virginia, the Bulldogs played a close matched game against the Knights. The Bulldogs had the lead by one twice in the first six minutes, but when the Knights pulled out to lead by 11 at 10:36 left in the half, the Bulldogs couldn't get back and were still trailing by four at half. The Bulldogs scored first in the second half to cut the lead the Knights had by 2, but with the Knights hitting 8 threes in the first 10 minutes of the half, the Bulldogs were quickly down by as much as 17. The Bulldogs were able to come back to within one with 13 seconds left. Andy Cooper fouled saving time on the clock, but with the Knights making both free throws the lead was extended to 3. E'J Ward threw up a 3 at the buzzer but it did not go in leaving the Bulldogs defeated 68-71.
E'Jay Ward led the Bulldogs with 19 points while Matt Towry had 18 points with 14 rebounds.
The Bulldogs play tonight against Young Harris College and then return home for a game on December 1st against Berea College at 6:00 pm.
