The Bulldogs seem to be having the opposite luck of the Women's team as they lose their fifth straight game. Tennessee Wesleyan hosted Virginia Intermont, who went into the game 0-6 in the AAC.
TWC went up 6-2 on a trey by Matt Harper; 12-9 on a "3" by E'Jay Ward; 18-17 on two free throws from Matt Harper and, finally, 22-20 on a Justin Hicks' bucket. Jesse Booher's 3-pointer knotted the game again 25, but TWC would manage just one point over the final four minutes of the half to trail, 32-26.
In the second half, the Bulldogs fell behind 47-35 before a three-ball from Booher at the 11:30 mark. With Sean Bridges netting six straight points and back-to-back buckets from Matt Towry, the 'Dogs climbed within five at 53-48. Down by eight, Wesleyan ran off seven unanswered points, four from Harper and a three-point play by Hicks to get within one at 59-58 with 3:28 remaining. Towry's three-point play at 1:55 kept the margin at one, 64-63, but that would be as close as the Bulldogs would get. Twice during the Wesleyan rally, VI was able to tip in missed shots to maintain their advantage. The Bulldogs were defeated 66-70.
Matt Towry finished with 13 points and 17 rebounds. Harper added 13 points and Bridges 10.
