The Bulldogs suffer another loss to Reinhardt University on Saturday. The deficit at halftime proved to be too much for the Bulldogs and they were unable to come back in the 2nd half to win. Reinhardt won 81-64.
The Bulldogs controlled the opening tip and hit one of two free throws, but that was about the last good thing to happen for Wesleyan in the first half. Reindhardt's tenacious defense and attacking offense overwhelmed the Bulldogs to open a 39-19 lead. E'Jay Ward and Andy Cooper converted three-point plays as TWC crept back within 14, 42-28, at the intermission.
Wesleyan also lost leading scorer and rebounder Matt Towry to a knee injury with four minutes left in the half. Towry played briefly to open the second half, but left after just one minute and did not return. Led by Justin Hicks with eight points and four from Andy Cooper, Wesleyan continued its comeback in the second half. When Ward nailed a "3" with 11 minutes to play, the Dogs were within five at 55-50. Still trailing by five, Wesleyan missed its next shot and the rally was over. The Bulldogs went scoreless for the next five minutes as Reindhardt rebuilt a 14-point advantage and never looked back.
Hicks and Ward were the only two Bulldogs in double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
The Bulldogs travel to Bluefield College on Saturday for another AAC matchup at 7:30 pm. Then on Saturday the Bulldogs play Bryan at home at 4:00 pm.
