Tennessee Wesleyan continues to climb up the rankings as it is now No. 17 in the latest regular-season NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the NAIA announced Monday.
The Lady Bulldogs (24-3 overall, 12-0 Appalachian Athletic Conference) received 211 total points, nine fewer than No. 16 Cedarville (Ohio) and eight more than No. 18 Marian (Ind.).
Three other AAC teams also picked up votes. Montreat (N.C.) (23-3 overall, 9-3 AAC) collected 66 total points to land just outside the top 25 at No. 26. Milligan (Tenn.) (20-8 overall, 8-4 AAC) picked up 12 total points, while Union (Ky.) (16-11 overall, 6-6 AAC) got one vote.
Davenport (Mich.) was awarded all 16 possible first-place and 436 points to solidify its No. 1 standing in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The Panthers have been in the driver's seat for the past six weeks and continue to be the nation's only undefeated team. Three Great Plains Athletic Conference powers occupy the following spots in second-ranked Northwestern (Iowa), third-ranked Morningside (Iowa) and fourth-ranked Sioux Falls (S.D.). The No. 5 spot welcomes back Saint Francis (Ind.) after Kansas Wesleyan dropped back to No. 7.
