The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Savannah, GA to play in the Boombah Smash Hit Tournament at SCAD. The Lady Bulldogs competed against SCAD-Savannah and Malone University on Saturday and then against Cumberland University and Findlay University on Sunday. The Lady Bulldogs finished the Tournament 1-3 with the win over Malone University. On the way to the tournament the Lady Bulldogs played Wesleyan College of Georgia and recorded victories of 20-1 and 20-0.
In the first game against Wesleyan, the Lady Bulldogs went up 5-1 after the first inning and then continued to extend the lead. They scored 3 in the second, 2 in the 4th and 10 in the 5th to finish the game. Stacie Nelson had 3 hits and 3 runs including a double. Brandi Lasley had two hits as did Ashley Bryson. Chealsey Baxter had a home run for the Lady Bulldogs. Kayla Kerns got the win pitching 5 innings, giving up 3 hits and one run. She struck out 11.
Brittany Monday won the second game against Wesleyan pitching all five innings, striking out 10 and walking one. She gave up no hits and no runs. The Lady Bulldogs scored one in the second, 5 in the top of the 3rd, 6 in the 4th, and finished up the game with 8 in the fifth. Brandi Lasley had four hits including a double and triple. Cassidy Price had 3 hits and scored 3 runs. Jerilyn Keith and Brooke Ward with had two hits with Keith having a double. Lindsey Arnets and Stacie Nelson has had a double. Rachele Moretto had one hit which was a triple.
SCAD Savannah took an early 3-0 lead after the 3rd inning. The Lady Bulldogs scored 3 runs in the 5th to tie it up but SCAD came back to score one and take the lead. The game ended at 3-4. Monday took the loss pitching 6 innings and giving up 4 runs on 5 hits. She struck out 7 and walked 4. Brooke Ward had a home run for the Lady Bulldogs. Brandi Lasley hit a double. Also have hits was Rachele Moretto with 2, and Ashley Bryson with one.
In the win over Malone University the Lady Bulldogs scored early to take the lead 5-0 after 3 innings. Malone came back to score one in the 7th but it wasn't enough. Kayla Kerns pitched for the Lady Bulldogs giving up one run on 7 hits while striking out 3 and walking 2. The Lady Bulldogs had two home runs, one from Rachele Moretto and the other from Taylor Wilson. Brooke Ward had two doubles and Ashley Bryson had one. Also having hits was Stacie Nelson and Cassidy Price.
On Sunday the Lady Bulldogs played against Cumberland University first and were defeated 7-4. Tennessee Wesleyan was down 4-0 going into the bottom of the fourth and came back to score one. Cumberland came back in the 5th to score 3 more and take the lead 7-1. The Lady Bulldogs scored two more in the 5th and one in the 7th. Sarah Kilgore took the loss for the Lady Bulldogs pitching 5 innings while giving up 6 runs on 9 hits. She struck out 3. Kayla Kerns came in for the final 2 innings and struck out one while walking 2 and giving up one hit and one run. Ashley Bryson led the Lady Bulldogs with 3 hits including 2 doubles, and 3 RBIs. Sunni Jackson also had 3 hits and scored one run. Brooke Ward had two hits, while Stacie Nelson, Rachele Morretto, and Brandi Lasley (2B) each had one.
The Lady Bulldogs finished up the trip with a loss to Findlay University 7-5. The Lady Bulldogs took an early 1-0 lead after the first inning, but Findlay came back to score two in the 3rd. In the fourth Tennessee Wesleyan scored one run, while Findlay extended their lead with 2. The Lady Bulldogs came back to score 3 runs in the 6th to tie the game but Findlay scored the final two in the bottom of the 6th. Brittany Monday took the loss pitching 6 innings. She struck out 6 while walking 3. She gave up 7 runs on 9 hits. Ashley Bryson had 2 hits including a double and a home run, and one RBI. Brandi Lasley also had two hits. Brooke Ward had a double. Also having a hit was Jerilyn Keith and Sunni Jackson.
The Lady Bulldogs travel to Bryan College to play in a tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs will play against Truett-McConnell, Crowley's Ridge College, and Emmanuel College on both days. Tennessee Wesleyan will then play at home on March 16th against Young Harris College.
