Naomi Clarke enters her eighth year as head coach of the Tennessee Wesleyan women's soccer program. In the 2012-13 season Coach Clarke guided the team to a 12-8-0 overall record, and a 7-2 conference record in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. Finishing runner-up in regular season standings in 2012-13, Coach Clarke took the Lady Bulldogs into the AAC tournament for her seventh time, where they moved through the playoffs to the Appalachian Athletic Conference championship game. After dominating regular time without scoring, the Lady Bulldogs gave up a pentaly kick in overtime to give Montreat College the Conference title & berth to the National Tournament. In the previous regular season, 2011-12, Coach Clarke led the team to a runner-up position but were upset in the conference tournament quarterfinal. In the 2010-2011 season, Clarke coached the Lady Bulldogs to their first ever Appalachian Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship & Conference Tournament Championship titles. For the first time ever in the history of the program, they moved on to the NAIA National Tournament.
Overall, at the helm of the program Coach Clarke has lead Tennessee Wesleyan Women's Soccer to a 64-61-2 record and 32-17-2 AAC conference record. In her seven years here at TWC, Clarke has had forty-two (42) TWC players named to Appalachian Athletic All-Conference Teams, nine (9) players named to NAIA All-Region teams, two (2) NAIA Honorable All-American selection, one (1) NSCAA Honorable Mention All-American selection, and two (2) NCSAA All-American selections. Clarke has also helped set the academic standard for the women's soccer program during her tenure with four (4) players named NAIA Scholar-Athletes, and thirty-two (32) AAC All-Academic Team players.
Clarke, originally from New Zealand, came to Tennessee Wesleyan in 2006 following a one and a half year stint as assistant women's coach at the University of North Alabama where she also completed a Master's degree in Health Promotion and Human Performance. Prior to coaching college soccer, Clarke played at the NCAA Division II level at Lock Haven University of PA (2000-2002), and the Metropolitan State University of Denver (2003-2004) where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Human Performance and Sport emphasizing Teaching K-12 Physical Education. During her playing career Clarke earned the honor of being named an NSCAA DII All-American selection all four years of her college career (2000-2003) as well as both 1st Team Regional and 1st Team Conference selections every year. Clarke also has national team caps under her belt with representation on the New Zealand Senior Women's National Team in 2004.
Clarke co-founded and is the Assistant Director of Coaching at local soccer club McMinn United FC and has also previously coached for elite clubs out of the Nashville, TN and Denver, CO areas. Clarke is also a soccer camp veteran coach having coached and directed with Joe Machnik's No.1 Soccer Camps since 2002, Coerver Coaching in 2005-2009, as well as worked various college camps since 2006. Clarke currently works with the TN Olympic Development Program and serves as an adjunct faculty member in the Exercise Science department at the college. Clarke holds her USSF National 'B' Coaching License and resides in Athens, TN with her fiancé Hristo Kolarov.
