        <title>[Women's Basketball] Lady Bulldogs back on top</title>

        <description>&lt;div align=left&gt;With a win for the Lady Bulldogs over Columbia College and a loss for Virginia Intermont, Tennessee Wesleyan is back on top of the AAC Standings.&amp;nbsp; The Lady Bulldogs (11-3) have a one game lead over Virginia Intermont, Bluefield, and Montreat (10-4).&amp;nbsp; Tennessee Wesleyan has a chance to extend that lead on Wednesday when they host Virginia Intermont in a BLUE OUT at 5:30 pm.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/div&gt;

&lt;div align=left&gt;The Lady Bulldogs took a 33-27 lead into the locker room at half, despite shooting 38% in total field goals. Tennessee Wesleyan came back in the second half to shoot 56% and win over Columbia, 73-52. The Lady Bulldogs showed much improvement in free throws shooting 76% for the game compared to 46% in the previous game. Tennessee Wesleyan still committed 23 turnovers while only forcing 16 from Columbia. &lt;/div&gt;</description>

        <title>[Men's Basketball] Smith named AAC Player of the Week</title>

        <description>Shannon Smith of Tennessee Wesleyan is the Appalachian Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
&lt;P&gt;Smith helped the Bulldogs to two, high-scoring victories last week as Tennessee Wesleyan defeated Bryan (Tenn.) 107-104 in overtime and Union (Ky.) 100-96. The Bulldogs are now 14-9 overall and lead the AAC with an 8-2 conference mark.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The 6-foot, freshman guard from Cartersville, Ga., averaged 28.5 points per game last week as he hit 63.6 percent of his shots from the floor. Smith went 14-of-20 from the field and 6-for-11 from 3-point range in scoring 42 points against Bryan. He added 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting against Union. He also had seven assists, six rebounds and two steals on the week.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The 42 points is a season high. Prior to that game, 19 points is the most Smith has tallied in a game all season.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;On the season, Smith is averaging 8.7 points per game and just under two rebounds and two assists per game.&lt;/P&gt;

        <title>[Baseball] Bulldogs split in opening weekend</title>

        <description>&lt;div&gt;The Bulldogs opened up their season this weekend at the University of Auburn-Montgomery, playing against AUM, Southern Poly, and Embry Riddle.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;The&amp;nbsp;Bulldogs came away with 2 wins and 2 losses, splitting with AUM, defeating Southern Poly, and losing to Embry Riddle.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/div&gt;
&amp;nbsp;
&lt;div&gt;Tennessee Wesleyan started the weekend with the&amp;nbsp;game against Southern&amp;nbsp;Poly on Saturday winning&amp;nbsp;14-5.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;The Bulldogs had just nine hits, but took advantage of five errors and put the game away with a seven-run sixth inning.
&lt;P&gt;Senior Stephen Branca led the offense with a home run and double, scoring three runs and driving in four. Junior Jake Stone also had two hits with a double, scored twice and had five RBIs. Senior Taylor Oldham homered with two RBIs and senior Tanner Quirk had a hit with two runs scored.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Junior Jeremy Fitzgerald was the winning pitcher, giving up four runs on six hits with four strikeouts and issued one walk. Senior Corey Collins earned the save, allowing just one run on two hits with three strikeouts over three innings.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description>
